Multi-Vocational
Pastors to Thrive
in Ministry
ABOUT
Dually Devoted is a place where discussions surrounding Bivocational, Covocational or Multivocational pastors can take place. We are dedicated to exploring the challenges and benefits of this ministry strategy and provide support and resources to help pastors thrive in their dual roles.
Pastor Mark Williams has served in ministry for the past 28 years and has been a Bivocational Pastor for at least 26 of them. He currently pastors a church in Santa Rosa and is a manager of a retail business with 4 locations. Mark received his Master’s in Strategic Leadership from LIFE Pacific University and worked on a capstone project regarding pastoral care for Bivocational Pastors. His heart is to provide a space for Bivocationals to discuss and discover new ways to navigate this challenging yet rewarding field.

Why "Dually Devoted?"
Having been a Bivocational minister for over 20 years, I’ve come to appreciate the unique blessings and opportunities that come with this dual calling. Despite the lack of discussion and literature on the subject, balancing a church position while earning a living in the secular world has provided me with invaluable experiences and insights.
During my research for a capstone project a few years ago, I realized just how underrepresented our experiences are. While some resources helped me feel seen and heard, there was a noticeable gap in empirical work. This realization, coupled with recent encouraging conversations with family and friends, has inspired me to take action.
“Dually Devoted – A Devotional for Bivocational Pastors and Leaders,” being released in November 2024, is my first step in celebrating our unique journey. My goal is to foster a discussion of empathy and to highlight the opportunities and strengths that come with our dual roles. I hope to contribute stories, insights, and information that can empower us and help us navigate our path forward with confidence and joy.
Be sure to check back from time to time for more blogs from others who have been impacted through this dually devoted calling.
Blessings,
Mark Williams
